Background Downer EDI Mining (formerly Roche Mining) is part of the Downer Group which has grown to be the leading provider of services to the infrastructure, mining and engineering sectors.
Business Problem Downer EDI Mining currently uses the JD Edwards World software as its core Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The system no longer meets the current and future business requirements. It was recognised by senior management that migrating to the latest JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP system would be the key enabler for continued growth and to improve operational efficiencies across the organisation.
Downer EDI Group is committed to Oracle's JD Edwards software and has corporate licences for most of the key modules.
Results CMC were engaged to initially review the Business Case for the Re-Implementation of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. CMC's Strategic Consultant provided feedback and this was accepted by the Executive.
CMC was then asked to assist with the Project Management and Methodology Support for all activities in Phase 1 which is the Preparation of an RFP for the Evaluation and Selection of a JDE Implementation Partner. This will lead to the scoping and planning for Phase 2 which will be the Re-implementation Planning Study (RPS) Stage.
CMC also provided Change Management Consulting to outline the activities required for the development of a Change Management Strategy and to detail the requirements for initiation of introductory Executive Management communications.
This provided the organisation with the following:
A clear vision and direction for the JD Edwards Re-Implementation Project.
Improved management and structure of Change Management knowledge transfer.
Identification of relevant key Change Management issues and suggested mitigation strategies moving forward.
CMC continues to support Downer EDI Mining on an as required basis.
