Background
NSW Health and the Peak Purchasing Council were managing the overall integration of NSW Health into the Whole of Government eMarketplace and the implementation of related eCommerce projects consistent with NSW Health Supply Chain Reform strategies.
NSW Health, in a focus on cost reduction and greater efficiencies elected to be an early adopter of the e-marketplace initiative being delivered by Logica CMG and the NSW Department of Commerce. The program objective was to enable the architecture and processes to be piloted at 2 sites in NSW.
Business Problem
The Peak Purchasing Council was charged with the responsibility of implementing the solution and required a project team including a Project Director. The work included scoping and delivering the pilot solution for 2 NSW Area Health sites.
Results
After a number of months of work towards achieving the objectives of the program, the CIO of NSW Health decided to invite Accenture to redefine the corporate architecture for the e-Market foundation.
CMC offered to resign, as the deliverables of the project were no longer relevant or attainable, and containment of unnecessary costs for NSW Health was a well understood focus.
