Background
Queensland Energy Resources (QER) are a shale oil mining business with considerable focus on building demonstration plants and streamlining the technologies required to commercialise the business.
The existing business systems were not set up to provide reliable management reporting.
Business Problem
A number of applications have been implemented at QER, including Infor's Sun Financials and IBM's Maximo Asset Management system. While these systems were implemented there were a number of issues in terms of delivering the required reporting requirements for the business.
This situation was compounded by a number of MYOB databases managing minor entities that needed to be incorporated into the overall monthly reporting view.
Results
The QER project team, supported by weekly project meetings with the Project Sponsor and CMC were focused on identifying scoping and delivering the required financial reports by 1st July.
To deliver the reports required an upgrade to Sun Financials and the migration of the MYOB databases into the system. Some minor adjustments to Maximo were also required in order to ensure appropriate information was available in Sun Financials for reporting. The project was implemented in line with the anticipated schedule.
Reporting requirements are now in place and the business will proceed to looking at further streamlining of the business systems environment to ensure that the foundation for future growth is appropriately established.
CMC provides Strategic ERP Consulting, QA Review and Project Management Support to QER on an as required basis.
